Mock interview. You're interviewing for a data analyst job on a search team. The interviewer shares searches (one row per search) and search_clicks (one row per click on a result). The data covers 1 to 14 March 2026. "Let's start with the basics."

A search is clicked if it has at least one row in search_clicks. The click-through rate (CTR) is the share of searches that were clicked.

Step 1: The headline numbers

"In one row: searches, users, searches per user, CTR, and the average seconds from a search to its first click (for clicked searches)."

Expected output

  • One row; searches_per_user rounded to 2 decimals; ctr as a percentage rounded to 1 decimal; avg_seconds_to_click rounded to 1 decimal

Example of the shape (made-up values):

searches users searches_per_user ctr avg_seconds_to_click
5000 800 6.25 50.0 40.0
